Status of Herbicide Resistance in Nebraska - Lowell Sandell : February, 2014

Nebraska is probably somewhat behind on total acres of glyphosate-resistant weed species relative to other states in the south and Midwest, but conformation of glyphosate-resistant populations has been steady over the last 3 years. The top weeds of concern in NE are glyphosate resistant marestail, waterhemp and kochia. Of particular note are isolated populations of HPPD resistant waterhemp and Palmer amaranth and synthetic auxin resistant waterhemp and kochia. But these cases further bolster the need for diversified management to maintain the effectiveness of all modes of action.
